Malbork is a particularly popular tourist destination, not only due to the famous Gothic monuments, but also because of its scenic landscapes by the river Nogat, which can be admired also from a ship, a water tram or a gondola.
The essential tourist attraction undoubtedly is the medieval Castle of the Teutonic Order, the Europe's largest Gothic stronghold. It offers a lot of interesting exhibitions, including the biggest in the world siege machines collection. Especially worth experiencing are: well topped with a pelican sculpture at the courtyard, treasury, or the huge dansker which can be found by following the direction indicated by… devils tails. Very impressive are also four grand masters sculptures located in front of the southern wall.
For those who want to intensively feel the medieval atmosphere, we suggest to visit Malbork in July during "The Malbork Siege" - an exceptional staging involving horses, actors, stuntmen and pyrotechnics effects, being an example of historical reconstruction of the 1410's events. In those few days the knight camp is situated by the castle and we have an opportunity to marvel at demonstrations of medieval crafts, cuisine, music and dancing.
Parents with their children will surely appreciate places like: "Dino Park" (the largest dinosaurs-in-motion park in Pomerania) and "Jumpy Park" (rope park).
